Hello,
I’m Lorena, the creator of Sweet Spot Sustainability.
I write for sustainable building professionals who care deeply about their work, but feel the weight of trying to do it all. The tension between making meaningful climate impact and staying well is real, and most of us were never taught how to navigate it.
Sweet Spot Sustainability is built on a simple idea: the same whole-systems thinking we use to design better buildings can be applied to how we work and live. I call this Inner & Outer Sustainability.
Inner Sustainability is about learning how to stay calm, grounded, and resourced so you can keep showing up for the work you care about without burning out.
Outer Sustainability is about how impact actually happens in the real world: communicating clearly, navigating trade-offs, and influencing decisions so better outcomes are not just designed, but delivered.
I’ve spent the past decade working in the green building industry. I’ve seen people burn out trying to do everything, while others stay stuck and afraid of the overwhelm. I’ve lived both. We frame sustainability as a technical problem, but the real friction is often emotional, and it’s that unspoken resistance that shapes what actually moves forward.
At its core, Sweet Spot Sustainability is about thriving people and a thriving planet, because impact isn’t just technical, it’s how we navigate overwhelm, fear, and resistance.
